How I Eat as a Student

Hiya everyone. Just before I get into this post, I thought I’d mention that I recently started a Youtube channel! I upload every Sunday (and maybe have some surprise videos as and when) so chances are, you’ve missed a cheeky upload! Please go and subscribe and show me love because it’s scary business!

I am a student and I eat vegan, I hear the older generations screeching that that must not be possible. I like keeping my veganism as inclusive as I can so I thought I’d share some of my favourite cheap vegan meals that I eat as a student – because I’m not rich, both as a student or just as a basic person.

1. Tomato Pasta with Beans


  • 200g pasta
  • handful of cherry tomatoes
  • half a can of kidney beans
  • passata
  • nutritional yeast

The amount I made made enough for at least two meals. I bought all this stuff from Lidl but I used Asda prices because Lidl don’t have an online store and I’m too silly to remember what I spent on each individual item of food. So obviously, it may be a little different because Asda is a tad more expensive for fresh veggies. The total cost of one serving is estimated at £0.23 but obviously, it depends on how your personal taste.

2. Instant Noodles with Sweetcorn and Nutritional Yeast


  • Instant Noodles (any flavour but I used chicken – Lidl ones are vegan!)
  • Sweetcorn
  • Nutritional Yeast

Maybe not the most nutritious meal because it has no “healthy” foods inside it but it was tasty and quick. I was so happy when I found out the instant noodles in Lidl are vegan because I was obsessed with Super Noodles before I went veggie/vegan hahaha. This took like five minutes to prep and cook so it’s ideal if you have to quickly eat before a lecture or work! The total cost was probably around £0.40 because the noodles cost 24p and I only used a short portion of the other stuff!

3. Beans and Rice


  • White rice
  • Kidney beans
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Sweetcorn
  • Sweet chilli sauce

This is the yummiest thing ever! Definitely doesn’t look it but it is! Some meals are like this as a student, no matter your dietary choice. You can be vegan or an ominvore and you’d probably eat this meal at some point because students are POOR AF.

  1. It’s nearly 9 am, I am at uni right now and damn, normally I’m not really hungry in the mornings, but this post sure made me! These are some great, quick and easy recipes anyone can make. (And the ingredients are cheap too!) When I have the time, I always like to meal prep my lunches for the week, it’s such a simple way to save money while still eating something delicious every day! xx
