Unpopular Opinions #2

Hiya everyone! Just before I get into this post, I thought I’d mention that I recently started a Youtube channel! I upload every Sunday (and maybe have some surprise videos as and when) so chances are, you’ve missed a cheeky upload! Please go and subscribe and show me love because it’s scary business!

I’m back with more unpopular opinions! My last post seemed to go down pretty well and I said I had a ton more unpopular opinions kept up in my head so I thought I’d share more! Without further ado, I’ll get right into it!

It’s okay to not have an opinion on something

We live in a world where people demand that others have an opinion. We have to know how we feel about everything all the damn time and I truly believe that you don’t have to have an opinion on everything. You don’t know how you feel about heavy metal music? That’s fine. You don’t know how you feel about Doctor Who? That’s fine too. Obviously there’s things that the majority of the Earth need to have an opinion on like politics and social justice movements but there are things you don’t necessarily need to have a well formed opinion on.

Traditionally cold seasons are better than the hot ones

We’re currently in the middle of summer. I don’t like it. It probably doesn’t help that we have an abnormally hot summer here in the United Kingdom but I just don’t like it. I have hay fever and sensitive skin, those mixed is just asking for rashes and a messed up nose and eye area, when it’s hot. I can easily wrap in warmer clothes in winter than rip my own skin off. That’s why I prefer autumn/winter. The colder months call for being cuddled up on the sofa or actually in bed with a duvet. I like those things.

You don’t have to respect your elders

I know I know, everyone is gasping at this as they read it. But no, I don’t think we should respect our elders. I hate the phrase in all of it’s entirety. Just because someone is older than me doesn’t mean you get my respect. I didn’t choose to be born when I was and neither did you, it’s literally pot luck. I think the basis on whether someone gets my respect or not is whether they earned it. If you’re being an arse to me, I won’t necessarily be an arse back, I just won’t give you respect like I would to someone who is nice to me. I don’t give a shit if you’re 68 or 14, if you earn my respect, you get it.

Let me know below if you agree with any of the “unpopular opinions” I have stated! I’m up for a lil debate in the comments hahah!

  1. Yes! Cold climates all the way. Also growing up in a place I thoroughly unaffectionately term the 9th Circle of Hell is a pretty good life lesson from birth not to automatically respect your elders. Those idiots are how the state got ruined to begin with…

  2. Lol, do you feel better getting that last one off your chest, lol! Some opinions are better left unsaid, I agree and I even believe it’s the same in politics. A lot of people don’t know what they’re doing and many lie. Hard to see truth in today’s world. Great post! ☺️

  3. Yes, yes, yes to all of these! I don’t have an opinion on lots of things and I don’t see the harm in telling that to people when they’re having a conversation about a topic I don’t know about, it actually allows me to ask questions so I can inform myself and take an interest if I want to know more. Cold over hot any day of the week, it’s easier to warm up than cool down, my skin doesn’t like heat either. The last point I had an experience with recently where I was texted nasty messages from my ex-boyfriend’s mother and she broke us up so it’s safe to say I lost respect for her after that! Respect is earned not automatically given 🙂

    1. Thank you for agreeing! I’m sorry about that horrible texts from her, for one – it’s definitely none of her concern, yours and your exes relationship, so why she needed to intervene is a weird thing!

  4. i love the last one about not having to respect elders, ive come across some of the rudest elderly people ever even something as simple as letting them on the bus first with no thank you because they expect you to do that for them anyway!

    1. Thank you for agreeing hahah! Since working (kinda) in a customer service environment, every young person has been super chill with me whereas I’ve had some elderly people fully shout at me for a genuine mistake! But obviously not every old person is like that!
