Hiya! I did originally plan to do a huge post about the German market in Birmingham city centre, because I never go and it would give me an excuse to make an effort to go this year. Alas, I’m still too scared to enter an environment THAT busy. So this blog post isn’t going to be about the market as such, just about Birmingham as a whole because I’m going to take pictures as close to the busyness as I can!
I briefly visited the Frankfurt Christmas Market prior to the gig I went to in mid November and it was just divine. I love that around Christmas time it gets dark super quickly so the lights are truly glistening! Although I dislike being out when it’s dark, there’s a certain cosiness around it being dark this time of year don’t you think?
I just loved how pretty the lights are, all around the city centre. I had to take pictures, both for my blog and my Instagram!! It was actually at this moment that I decided I was going to write this post, because I had to share how pretty Birmingham can be. It does have the stigma around it as being a dump but I think in some places, especially the city centre, is gorgeous.
I know this technically isn’t part of Birmingham because you can get Nandos ANYWHERE. Alas, I had to let you guys know about the new vegetarian food they have. I tried the sweet potato and butternut squash with added avocado and it was delish! I was sceptical because I was very devoted to my tomato soy burger and once they discontinued it, I was upset but it isn’t too bad. If you want it to be vegan though, please remember to ask for it without the mayo! It doesn’t say it on the menu so I didn’t know and I was upset.
On a different day, I decided to show you guys properly what the German Market was like. Prior to this day, I only merely stepped foot on the outside of the market and nothing more. I was too nervous because of Mr Shitface Anxiety but I went into more detail about this here so I’m not going to talk about it now. I went and I loved it. Here’s a few photos I took
to prove that I actually went to show off how pretty it is to you guys.
This was where all the alcohol was. Sadly I didn’t try any of it because it was far too expensive for little old me to purchase but I enjoyed watching everyone else enjoying it and spending all their money on a pint.
I photographed this higher up in this post but it’s still cute nonetheless. I just love how bright it was and how it was very much a centrepiece of the market as a whole.
This photo doesn’t know the extent of how busy it was on the day. You can vaguely see the sheer amount of people that I was heading towards and that’s scary BUT I DID IT.
Of course I had to take a picture of this. I was particularly drawn to it as soon as I saw it when I was walking up the steps. I was scared that I was gonna get shouted at because children were on the ride but luckily, I got a photo where only adults were on show so that’s not too bad!
I had to show you guys this cute photo, although this was taken outside of my house so it’s not TECHNICALLY Birmingham but it was snowing!!!! This was taken on the 9th and as many of you probably know, it snowed so fucking much the day prior. I loved it, my college actually called college off for the day because of it so I wasn’t complaining.
I hope you enjoyed following me around for the last couple of days and watched me tackle my anxiety bit by bit. I hope you have a lovely rest of the day.
