Matilda the Musical Review

Hiya! This is something a little bit different because I don’t think I do many many reviews on this blog because quite frankly, they aren’t my cup of tea. I enjoy reading them and reviewing products mentally but I just don’t enjoy writing review posts.

BUT, this time it is different. I don’t really go to the theatre because I don’t really have the money and whenever I do have money, I spend it on vinyl or concert tickets! I went to see two musicals when I visited my brother in London, back in August and I thought it was high time that I reviewed the musicals for you all! That sounds fun, I think anyway..

I had a pretty decent seat. I could perfectly see the entire stage from where I was sitting so I’m happy with that haha. I was sat behind this family though – which is expected at a musical that is about a children’s film – and they were so annoying. They bought their little boy a drink from what I can only assume is McDonalds and the ENTIRE way through the musical, he was drinking that drink. I wouldn’t mind if it was a full drink but ya know when people just want to get every last drink of their cup with a straw and it makes that HORRIBLE noise? Yeah, bet you can imagine why I was annoyed haha. Probably doesn’t help that I’m a massive misophonic but I remember the amount of times I had to stop myself from turning around and saying, “I think your drink is finished” is beyond me.

The noise aside, the musical was lovely. I think I’m biased though because I’m a huge Matilda fan. I can watch that movie every single day of my life and not get bored of it. The little girls who played Matilda were adorable.

One thing I must add though, is that they reenacted that scene where Miss Trunchball gets angry at Amanda for having the pig tails. Yep, I don’t know how they did it but they did. Miss Trunchball swung Amanda around by her pig tails and then the entire theatre went dark and what I can only assume, was a doll that had the appearance of Amanda, dropped from the ceiling. I’m pretty sure everyone was just completely in shock when it happened. It all happened so quickly! I found a video of it here.

My favourite song from the musical has gotta be:

“Just because you find that life’s not fair it doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it. If you always take it on the chin and wear it, nothing will change”

And this is my review! Let me know if you enjoyed reading this?! I

may do some more!
